Avoid UV Light! (Sun and Sunbeds)!

UVA and UVB radiation in sunlight don't just give you that nice tan; they unfortunately also have much more negative effects on your skin.

Prolonged exposure to the sun increases the risk of various skin problems and conditions, such as wrinkles, pigmentation spots, rosacea, sun allergy, and skin cancer.

To prevent these consequences, you should apply sunscreen thoroughly. However, with laser hair removal treatment, you need to be even more consistent with your sun protection! We consider good sun protection – both before and after laser treatment – a prerequisite for performing the treatment safely and effectively. Your skin needs to recover from the laser treatment and can burn more easily with direct exposure to UV radiation. Pigmentation spots can also develop more quickly – something you naturally want to prevent.

How does that work?

During the treatment, we essentially give a stimulus to the skin. Research shows that when we stimulate the skin, an inflammatory reaction occurs. This is part of the skin's healing process and is a good sign. But it's precisely during this healing phase that the skin is more sensitive to UV radiation.

Therefore, make sure you start applying sunscreen and keep your skin out of the sun 8 weeks before your first laser treatment. Between treatments, protect your skin by applying plenty of sunscreen.

We recommend using a high SPF sunblock. This essentially blocks sunlight on your skin. However, keep in mind that even with a sunblock, you're not 100% protected against the harmful radiation from the sun. Therefore, regular reapplication is necessary to protect your skin.

However, there are quite a few people who can undergo their treatments perfectly fine during the summer months. Think about the armpits, for example, which don't really get exposed to the sun. And when you simply cover the area with clothing, there's no problem.
