How Important is Sun Protection During Laser Treatment?

how important is sun protection

Laser treatment can make your skin sensitive and irritated. The skin becomes vulnerable to light damage. That's why it's strongly recommended to avoid direct sunlight after treatment. Even in the shade, the highest possible protection against UV radiation and the highest possible protection factor is advised. For the best results (and your own comfort), we recommend the following:

Everyone is now aware that good sun protection is a must. The risks of many skin problems, such as wrinkles, pigmentation spots, rosacea, sun allergy, and not to forget skin cancer, can often be reduced through good sun protection.

After laser treatments, sun protection is a requirement, for both safety and effectiveness of the treatment, and to prevent skin problems. It's important that the skin can heal properly.

UV radiation and exposure to it counteracts the healing process. This can lead to skin burns as well as the development of pigmentation spots. That's why we advise avoiding UV radiation as much as possible.

Tip: When you start applying sunscreen well and keep your skin out of the sun 4 weeks before your first laser treatment, it helps your skin tremendously.

After your last treatment, you can safely go in the sun again after 4 weeks. Both clothing and daily use of a sunblock provide good protection.
