For the right answer to this question, you first need to ask yourself: am I okay if the area in question doesn't tan this summer? Laser hair removal is not possible on sun-tanned skin, and safety is our top priority!
But if you don't necessarily need to get tanned in the area to be treated? Then you're a good candidate! We advise applying sunscreen to the area to be permanently hair-removed on sunny days or covering it with clothing or a towel. People who rarely tan, don't go on vacation, or work indoors a lot remain good candidates for laser hair removal.
How do you prepare for a laser treatment?
First, it's important that you don't extensively sunbathe for at least 6 weeks before your treatment – this includes tanning beds! Self-tanners are also not allowed.
Medication Use
With any medication use, you need to be careful. Some medications (including antibiotics) can cause light sensitivity, for example. We can advise you on what's possible and what isn't, but you can of course also consult your doctor about this.
Shaving Yes, Epilating No
Regarding preparing the area to be treated, you can shave the area up to two days beforehand. But the hairs should not be pulled out. So no epilating, waxing, or sugaring!
Can I shave between laser treatments? Yes, you can! But because the hairs fall out two to three weeks after treatment, shaving might not even be necessary. By the way, shaving cannot worsen hair growth, that's a myth.
What's no longer allowed during the treatment process are waxing, epilating, and the 'threading method'. These methods also remove the hair roots, and if these are no longer present, they can't be destroyed with laser light. And that's exactly what we're aiming for!
